2011 - 3/5
Plot: B-
It was pretty much an exact remake of the first one, just set in Bangkok, Thailand. I think they added a lot of random stuff that was unnecessary – more parts were added for shock value and it was beyond over the top.
(***POSSIBLE SPOILERS***)
I thought the addition of the monk in place of the baby (in the first one) was a bit odd.
I didn’t really understand what fueled Alan hatred of the bride-to-be’s brother.
I thought the smoking monkey was kind of stupid.
Using the kids in place of adults was a neat idea during some scenes and they didn’t overdo it.
Script: C+
Not as memorable as the first. Nothing repeat worthy.
Acting: B
Bradley, Zach and Ed are all really good in both Hangovers. The Wolfpack makes a good trio. They all fit their characters really well, but Stu was still a bit on the whinny side, Alan was more annoying, and Phil didn’t really have a huge role.
Overall: B
I knew what to expect walking into this movie and as I expected, it was funny, but it wasn’t as good as the first. I didn’t expect it to be more vulgar than the first (‘BangCock’, if you will).
