Fast & Furious - Hobbs & Shaw

2019 - 3/5

honestly, i'm writing this review in mid-november of 2019, so i don't really remember much about this movie, nor do i care to watch it again.
for a movie that doesn't have any of the original characters (and i know it's not supposed to because it's a spin-off), i don't really care for it. i really only watched it because it's apart of the franchise, but with p. walker passing, i don't really care to watch any more of these.
i do remember thinking i like the banter back and forth between hobbs and shaw, but beyond that, nothing memorable.

Once Upon A Time in Hollywood

2019 - 2.5/5

typical Tarantino in the sense that there's SO much build up, and then there's excessive blood and fore. in this movies' case, the build up was there, but the blood and gore wasn't as over the top as usual, it was rather 14A blood and gore.
i can honestly say that i don't think this movie has any repeat value - there really would be no reason for me to ever watch this again.
the acting was really good by the parties that actually matter.
Tarantino's movies are usually long and for the most part, i never really feel how long they are, but in this case, i was looking at the time pretty much every hour. this movie really could have been cut down to 1hr40mins if he really wanted to. there was so much unnecessary filler and characters that made me thing "okay, what's the point of this?" on more than one occasion.

Lion King

2019 - 3.7/5

For the most part it's a re-hash of the animated version. I will never think it's as good, but it was done well.

The CGI was really good, the voice actors were all right too (I found that the voice actor for young Simba was pretty close to the 90s version; I absolutely thought that Seth Rogen was a great choice; people are gonna hate me for saying this, but I didn't think that Beyoncé was a good choice).

I will say that someone told me before I watched it that the one thing that bothered them was the lack of emotion portrayed, and it's understandable because you can't really animate that, but as I was watching it (the part where Musafa dies) didn't pull at my heart stirs nearly as much as the animated cartoon version from the 90s. So that part was a bit meh for me.

Overall, it wasn't bad and I liked how they kept it pretty close to the 90s version.
