ATM

2012 - 0/5

When this movie first came out, I wanted to see it; I never got around to doing so until I saw it was available on Netflix. Figured I’d give it a shot even though I’m not expecting much.

There will be spoilers, but considering it was a crappy movie, I wouldn’t recommend you watch it anyways. If you REALLY wanted to waste 90 minutes of your life, then I suggest you just re-read this review several times… or stare at a blank wall; either are better options than watching this movie. Also, by staring at a blank wall, you might even come up with a better plot!

There are SO many plot holes, and I doubt I’ll even mention half of them... but at this exact moment, I have nothing better to do, so lets give it a shot!

Corey is the one telling David to talk to Emily, yet, when David has the perfect opportunity to be alone with Emily, Corey needs to cock-block David and tag along. Is this guy bipolar or something?!

First and foremost, how did the killer/stalker know that people were going to show up there at all, let alone at a time that would suit him (as in give him enough time to kill them). As Emily said, everything happens randomly.

Now that 3 people showed up, and a ratio of 3:1, 2 of them are guaranteed to get away if they each just run off in different directions.

I think it was a great move that David parked 50 feet away from the entrance to the ATM, otherwise, this movie wouldn’t exist… wouldn’t that be a bummer! Even if David was trying to show is annoyance with Corey by parking far away and making him walk, why wouldn’t he drive up to the building when Corey asked him to come in.

I’m pretty sure that the killer/stalker wasn’t armed at all aside from what he found in David’s trunk.

Who in their right mind would be out walking a dog… in a parking lot might I add at 1am in the freezing cold.

The security guard was just dumb; clearly the 3 of them were in despair considering the girl was smrt (yes, I meant to write ‘smrt’; The Simpsons reference) and wrote “Help” on the glass with lipstick that just happened to be in her pocket even though she wasn’t wearing it at all throughout the movie. Note to self: keep red lipstick in my pocket at all times.

When Corey decides to actually make a run for it, he’s clotheslined by the wire that just so conveniently was in David’s trunk. And you know, the killer/stalker was able to put that up unnoticed by the 3 people inside the ATM building because they had so much other stuff to do in there than keep an eye on the guy outside and what he’s doing.

Considering David was able to open the door just a bit when the car was rolled up to the door, I don’t get why neither of them thought to open it to let the water out. Although I’m pretty sure that David himself said that the killer/stalker wasn’t trying to drown them, but freeze them. Either way, the energy they put into trying to lift Corey could have been saved by opening the door a crack.

How did the killer/stalker know that the girl would die and would then be incapable of corroborating David’s story that they were indeed the victims.

Even if the security cameras inside ATM building were manipulated in a way to make it seem as if David was the killer, wouldn’t the police/technology be able to figure out it was tampered with. Not to mention the timing of the events that would be in the video.

I don’t like how it ended up with the viewer not knowing why the killer/stalker did what he did. I really hope it wasn’t because there’s going to be an ATM 2 – perhaps it’ll be called A Terrible Movie Movie (get what I was trying to do there?).

The only thing I can say about this movie for certain is this: it was a movie. Actually, I can say 2 things about it movie, what I just said and that it was a crappy movie.

Just in case you wanted to read more about this crappy movie, here are some funny things that people on IMDB have said:

If one of the characters had a cell phone, a lighter, or A BRAIN, the killer would have gone home.

The murderer parks the car right in front of the ATM door so Posh-, Scary-, and Baby-Spice wouldn't be able to get out of the ATM.

8) Our security guards are hired from the finest stock of fat men that couldn't pass the police exam. We realize they are stupid, so we don't arm them either. But they do get a nice company car and a decent pension.
(if you find this review on IMDB, you should read all of it; it’s funny).

Foxcatcher

2014 - 0/5

I got 40 minutes in and I just couldn't watch another minute. This was incredibly boring. So slow with no character or plot development.

All Relative

2014 - 2.3/5

So I wanted to watch a movie that I’d be able to write a review about right after I saw it… one that wouldn’t leave me thinking… so I picked this movie thinking that it’ll have the same highs and lows as other romantic comedies; and don’t get me wrong, it does… BUT… I was pleasantly surprised with this.

Right off the bat, I thought that the main guy was a terrible choice as a lead, but not even 5 minutes in, I had done a complete 180! I have no idea what it was about him/the character, but he was perfect for the role.

For a movie that I had somewhat expected that it wouldn’t have any depth, it would be the typical rom-com, and have bad acting to top it off, I ended up liking it.

***SPOILERS***
I found it kind of odd that Harry felt like he was betraying Grace considering he slept with her mom before they started dating. Realistically, it was an awkward coincidence.

I also wasn’t a fan with regards to how Maren was trying to control Harry, considering that she was the one that neglected to say that she was married. I think that because she didn’t answer his question clearly, she was the one lying to him.
